Sunday School

Sunday school had a lesson that I thougt was very strengthening. Sister Canon talked about how fear and panic should be replaced by faith and preparation. I never really considered things that way before. She then related the following story:

"An elder Cherokee Native American was teaching his grandchildren about life. He said to them, 'A fight is going on inside me... It is a terrible fight, and it is between two wolves. One wolf represents fear, anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, pride and superiority. The other wolf stands for joy, peace, love, hope, sharing, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, friendship, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion, and faith. This same fight is going on inside of you and every other person too.'

They thought about it for a minute and then one child asked his grandfather, 'Which wolf will win?'

The old Cherokee simply replied, 'The one I feed.'"

The idea was to feed your faith and preparation instead of your fear and panic, which makes perfect sense.

There was another story she related that really stuck with me and that was this:

On November 1, 1857, Elder George A. Smith delivered a memorable discourse, which included this old Chinese fable:

“A man travelling through the country came to a large city, very rich and splendid; he looked at it and said to his guide, ‘This must be a very righteous people, for I can only see but one little devil in this great city.’

“The guide replied, ‘You do not understand, sir. This city is so perfectly given up to wickedness … that it requires but one devil to keep them all in subjection.’

“Travelling on a little farther, he came to a rugged path and saw an old man trying to get up the hill side, surrounded by seven great, big, coarse-looking devils.

“ ‘Why,’ says the traveller, ‘this must be a tremendously wicked old man! See how many devils there are around him!’

“ ‘This,’ replied the guide, ‘is the only righteous man in the country; and there are seven of the biggest devils trying to turn him out of his path, and they all cannot do it.’ ”

That, I thought, was a very powerful message. I got goosebumps all up and down my arm.

Pics I Take When I'm Bored

I'm so lonely and bored lately that I take a lot of pics. It's really tough adjusting to Pastor being gone so much. I'm getting kind of clingy, LoL It makes it double hard when I don't have a car too. We only have one vehicle and Pastor needs it to get to work. He can't exactly take the bus at two in the morning.
This is Rosie, trying to get me to play ball with her.
Sleeping Angel.
I thought this cranky face was cute even though you can't see his whole head.
Cute stars outfit that g-ma Hanson bought him.
Sleeping in the bassinet, you can't tell from this picture, but he's got a couple more inches before he's too tall for it.
Sleeping Angel again.
This was cute, the baby fell asleep in Gary's arms as he walked through the house. He was so tuckered out.

Eyelash Extensions

My mom and I are practicing to get certified to do eyelash extensions. Her friend from work, Angela, let me practice on her today. I've never done this before and I actually enjoyed it more than I thought I would.

I didn't get before pics, but here are the results. Not bad for my first time eh? I should have taken the pic before she put her makeup on though. She was an amazing person to practice on and never got mad when I goofed. Thanks Angela!!

Sunday Dinner at My Mom's

Today we had Chinese food. Mmmm . . . my mom is a really good cook. She knows how to make anything and hardly eats any of it. She's a vegetarian so she doesn't eat what she makes.
The most handsome man in the world is in the house!
Those beautiful eyes just melt my heart every time I see them! Cute overload!!

My creative mother thought up this little competition to have after dinner. Who ever got the most candies and pom-poms and pennies in a bowl (using chop sticks) would win a prize. Pastor won one of the times.
This is the mess afterword. Look at all that candy just waiting to be eaten.
After that, we had to think of something creative to do with our chop sticks. This is Pastor's creativity.
And this is mine. It's a caterpillar! I won that round. Yay!
Then we ate ice cream. The baby loves ice cream, as we discovered at Macey's yesterday.

Lookit his sweet messy face! So cute!

Laptop

Our son has a laptop and we don't! What's up with that? ;o) He loves his new toy and plays with it as long as he can stand to sit up. He gets tired kind of quickly at times but is getting so good at it. I liked this picture because it looks like he's working hard and typing something on the laptop.

Trying on Halloween Costume

Oh my goodness, he was soo cute we just had to take a picture. I know you aren't supposed to until Halloween, but what the hey. Our camera is really bad, it's a video camera with a photo funtction so it doesn't take the best pics sometimes. Hopefully it will better on the real day.

Footsie PJs

I used to love these kinds of pjs when I was a little girl, now my son is wearing them! It was colder that night, so I whipped out the footsie pajamas and they're already almost too small. Good thing I did!

Babysitting the Wildings

These are the kids that I babysit every so often. Their mom is like super mom. She's a nurse and works a couple of nights here and there. When she comes home I babysit so she can take nap and be normal again after working all night.
These two are the twins, Rachel and Joseph.
This is Peter with his favorite snack.
They love to eat apples off the tree, which they have in their back yard.
Baby Duane loves Rachel. He always tries to grab her "princess" hair. The twins take turns going up to the baby and saying: "Hello baby Duane!" He then promptly grabs whatever he can hold on their faces and they roll away laughing.
*He he* Peter had to get his apple in there.

I used to babysit these guys when the twins were only five months old. Then the family moved to Nebraska for a while. They came back about a year ago and I've started babysitting again. It's much easier now because the number has been cut in half. I used to sit six, now there are only three. The three older ones are in school during that time.
Baby Duane is getting used to me babysitting. He used to jump at every noise they made and now he sleeps through it. I'm really glad we have this opportunity because I do spoil my baby. This way he knows there are other kids in the world. LoL

Working Double Time

Pastor started his new job out at the airport and is now working two jobs. I like the idea of working at the airport because there are lots of opportunities to move up, especially for someone who speaks two and a half languages. (He speaks some French, LoL) Anyway, he pushes wheelchairs for people and makes six dollars an hour plus tips. They told him if he works it right, he can make fourteen dollars an hour.

I'm really glad that he got the second job, but now I'm getting lonely. I'm used to having Pastor here in the mornings and now he's gone from five-thirty in the morning until two-thirty in the morning. I don't know how he's going to keep running on only three hours of sleep. I really worry about him driving home and drowsing off.

We're looking for a place in SLC so he can get more sleep instead of driving nearly two hours every day. Hopefully that will make things better. Plus, his days off will help too. He gets Saturday and Sunday off on one job and Sunday, Monday and Tuesday on the other. Hopefully that will give him some time to make up for lost sleep.

I feel horribly guilty though. I babysit for extra cash, but it's not helping a whole lot like I want. Being home with the baby is a real blessing, but I wish that Pastor didn't have to kill himself for it and I miss my honey so much. :o(

Adventures Outside

Today we went outside for fun. We do this about once or twice a day. I usually jump rope and the baby laughs hysterically. He thinks it's the funniest thing when I mess up and say "Dang it!" Especially if the rope hits me in the head.

More shoe socks!!

Heart Surgery

My grandpa Nerdin went in for surgery on the 11th. He has a hole in his heart and they're trying to close it. He's had several strokes over the course of his lifetime and they never knew. One half of his heart doesn't work, it just sort of flutters because of the hole. It's probably been that way since he was born. Of course, they don't know that because he's seventy years old and they just found it.

I'm really scared for him. He came out alright though, it's just that he's in a lot of pain. When my grandparents got to the hospital, the doctor told them that the machine they'd use to close the hole was broken and they needed to wait for the part to be replaced. In the end, my grandma said that she didn't think grandpa'd make it that long to wait and reschedule. Eventually, the doctor found a room where someone hadn't shown up for their surgery and the operation was done there. He only got done 1/3 of what he'd hoped to and now grandpa needs to go back on the 26th.

Stuff

Our blue eyed cat Cougar.
The most attractive man I know . . .
My camera did this sequoia effect. I had no idea it could do that.

I really love this new shoe sock fad. I think they are so adorable.

The baby has just recently started liking his binky. I don't know why, but he would never take it before. It would only succeed in making him really angry. But, within the past few days, he's started liking it again.

Utah State Fair

These are some of my favorite things from going to the fair.

I must say that I love goats. When I lived with my dad, we had two dairy goats. Yes, I said dairy goats. I milked those goats and drank the milk too. I actually miss goat milk. Cow milk doesn't agree with my sinuses, but goat milk is way too expensive at the store. Besides, they don't feed their goats sweet grass like my dad did ours. That made the milk very yummy.
One of my most favorite things to wish is that I had my own goat farm. They are such darling little things.
Pastor thinks I'm crazy to like the goats as much as I do. LoL

Have to mention cake!! What's a fair without cake?

These chaps are made of butter! Aren't they pretty neat looking?

This was my most favorite thing at the fair. The little wooden truck is so cute. I wish I had one for Duane.
I don't know that guy, but I waited a while for him to move and he didn't, so he's in the pic.
My beautiful brown eyed boy after the adventures of the day.
He's gonna be crawling soon!
