Church and Immunizations

Yesterday we went to church. Duane has been to church twice in his life and this was his second time, but he lasted two hours this time instead of just one. The first time he went to church was on Father's Day which was special. It's funny when we get to the church building because my grandma takes the baby from me and wants to hold him for everyone to see. Duane loves grandma H. though. When he's crying for me and I can't get him to stop, grandma H. will take him and he'll stop. What's up with that? LoL
-
We went to the doctor today and the baby had five immunizatoin shots. He is now a little fussy and won't let me put him down when he is awake. The doctor said that he will be fussy for two-three days. Hopefully everything works out alright.
-
Other than the shots, the doctor said that he was really healthy and alert. I'm glad that everything is going well for my baby. He was such a flirt in the office, he smiled at all the nurses and they adored him. He's such a ham.

Fun at BBQ

We went to an elders quorum dinner tonight. Everyone loved looking at the baby. Several of the sisters there commented on how baby Duane is very strong. One sister said that he had a very strong neck and back. I agreed and told her that he came to this earth holding his head up.

The food was yummy, which is to be expected, but someone made a peach cobbler in the dutch oven. Well, it was a peach-raspberry cobbler and boy was it yummy! I was telling Pastor that I hadn't had such a yummy cobbler in a long time.
-
It was a great evening and we had tons of fun. Baby Duane was interested in everything and anything. He's so smart, I can see the wheels in his head turning as he processes all he sees. I wonder what he would say if he could tell me his thoughts.

By the time we got home, he was so tuckered out that he didn't even scream to be rocked to sleep. That in itself was pretty amazing because he's started yelling at the top of his lungs when he gets too tired to deal with life and I have to bounce around or rock him to sleep to soothe his tantrum. Luckily things were different this evening.

Two Months Old

Baby Duane turned two months old today! I didn't even think about it until after Pastor came home and said "happy birthday Duane!" Good thing someone is keeping track of these things. LoL Time seems to slip by, he's getting so big! I can hardly believe that it's been two months already. Why don't they stay little forever?

Crocodile Tears

The baby cried real tears today. I put him down in his crib with his mobile so I could do something and he started crying. When I picked him up out of his crib, there was a great big crocodile tear in his left eye. Silly baby. He's certainly getting his own little personality.

Accomplishments

Well, we finally did it. We finished putting together the changing table that grandma H. bought for us. It only took two months! LoL Yay us!!

It's amazing how the transformation of motherhood takes place, isn't it? I find myself losing sleep at night just to watch my little angel sleep. He is so cute when he's sleeping.

We are planning his blessing now. It will be on July 6 of this year and we are really excited. Pastor is nervous about it because he is the one that will be giving the blessing, but I know he will do a marvelous job. Hopefully the blessing outfit my mom bought baby Duane will fit! He's growing and growing!!

Sleeping at Olive Garden

Cute pic huh? This was taken at Olive Garden. It was directly following a race that Gary ran and we went out to eat to celebrate his achievement. The race was 180 miles long if I remember correctly and was run by teams of twelve.

Gary was tired and kept almost falling asleep right at the table. That fit nicely into the baby's plans!

Losing Weight

Okay, this is the last blog of the day (no promises). I ordered this DVD on the internet to workout to. I want to lose some weight since I had the baby. The DVD is called Misfit's Kettlebell Basix. I just got the DVD today, but I'm still waiting for the kettlebell which is a kind of weight to train with.

I got the idea when I was watching a show based on how the stars lose weight. I know that losing weight is a way of life and not just a fad, but I was thinking of maybe getting a gym membership. The only problem with that is the baby and finding time to actually go to the gym. This way I can work out from home whenever the baby is asleep and I won't have to worry about finding someone to watch him. I'll post the progress and how much weight I've lost if any. LoL
Here's the website I got everything from. http://www.misfitla.com/home.html

Catching Up

Now our son is almost two months old. He's learned to stick his tongue out and he loves to rub his hair that he has an abundance of. He sometimes grabs fistfulls of his hair while he's eating and clutches it until he falls asleep.
The baby has also learned how to smile and has me completely wrapped around his little finger. When he cries he is adorable. When he smiles he is abosolutely adorable. *sigh* What is a mother to do?
Pastor has gotten two jobs so I can stay home with the baby. I've been looking for a stay at home job but they are hard to come by and it's not reasonable to assume I will get one.

Our Little Miracle

We weren't married three months before I realized I was preggers with our first child. We were a little shocked because we werne't planning on having a child so quickly. After a few visits to the doctor, we found out we were going to have a boy. The baby was due on April 22 and when he didn't come that day, I was scheduled to have the hospital start labor on the 27. We were all ready to go to the hospital and we were supposed to be there by 7pm. On the morning of the 27, around 4am I started having labor pains and we went to the hospital ER at 5:30am. After five hours of all natural labor, our son was born weighing 8 lbs 13 ounces.
The pregnancy was a little scary for the both of us. I was scared mosly because I'd never had a child before and you hear all these horror stories from everyone once they know you're pregnant. I kept hearing stories of people who had lost their child before the baby was even born. I also heard stories about horrible labor and deliveries. Oh man!
After our son was born, all the fear that I ever felt changed to joy. I had never been so happy in my life. Now I love my son more everyday. We named him Duane Eusebio after both of our grandpas who had passed on. My grandpa, Duane, had just passed away a few months earlier and Pastor's grandfather, Eusebio, a few years earlier. We actually had a girl name picked out as well just in case. If Duane had been a girl we would have named him Adrilda Mae. But I'm so overjoyed with my son!

Our Lives

I guess I should start from the beginning. I was born July 8, 1986 and my husband was born March 26, 1979. We met while we were going to school at SLCC. We got engaged in May of 2007 and married June 1, 2007 after about eight months of dating.

These pictures are from our wedding. Well, one of them is from my bridals, but the other two are from the reception that was held directly after the wedding in a beautiful park. All of my family was there but my husband is from Peru and none of his family was able to make it. We tried getting tourist visas for his parents but they were denied and we were extremely put out about it.

My mom organized the entire wedding. She is really talented. She even made my dress. You can see her talent just by looking at the pics! LoL
